About the workshops

Brighten up your DIY game by learning how to rewire and repair lamps. Perfect for beginners ready to spark their creativity.

In this hands-on session, you’ll learn how to safely rewire and repair lamps, pick up practical wiring techniques, and discover simple fixes that can bring old lights back to life. It’s a perfect way to build confidence with small electrical repairs while keeping useful items out of landfill.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or already handy with DIY, Lamp Lab will give you the skills to spark your creativity - and maybe even save your favourite lamp.

Go beyond the basics with an intro to soldering, learning how to splice wires and tackle simple electronics projects.

Soldering means joining metal parts together using a filler metal.

Being able to solder opens up a new world of electronics projects and repair possibilities.

Participants will learn how to splice wires, work safely and get to practice soldering skills by building a small electronics project.

Learn the ins and outs of basic electrical repairs by disassembling and reassembling a toaster.

At this workshop you will learn the basic foundations of fixing electrical items, with a focus on pop-up toasters.

By the end of the session you will have learnt the basics of safety when working with electrical items, disassembled and reassembled a pop-up toaster, understood its basic operations, gained tips on maintaining electrical items and conducted a basic repair. This will help you learn how to repair domestic appliances.
