What we do
At the Fixing Factory, we’re all about giving gadgets — and our planet — a second chance. From our bright orange workshops, we’re tackling electronic waste head-on with a mix of workshops, free repair sessions, and a big dose of community spirit. Think of it as a space where saving the planet is fun, practical, and just a little bit electrifying.
We launched back in 2022, and now we fix over 600 items a year, saving over 1300kg of electrical waste from landfill.
But this is just the beginning. We dream of a future where every high street has a Fixing Factory, and together, we can make it happen.
Why Fixing Matters
At Fixing Factory, every repair isn’t just about saving a device — it’s about:
Saving people money: Fixing stuff means people don’t need to spend money on unnecessary replacements. Fixing Factories saved local people over £2,500 in a single month.
Building skills: We help people learn new things, and access jobs in repair and reuse.
Regenerating high streets: Fixing Factories bring people together in person to connect with their community, helping to get our high streets back on their feet.
Reducing waste: By fixing instead of replacing, we keep waste out of landfill and cut carbon emissions.
Protecting nature: Repairing and reusing tech helps create a cleaner, better future for our children and grandchildren.
Powered by Passion and Support
We’re a community-funded, non-profit project driven by passionate volunteers and supported through generous customer donations and grants. Our operations are run in partnership by Possible and the The Restart Project, and funded by the National Lottery Climate Action Fund.
